Staff Application

Blue Mountain Ranch is a small private camp for boys and girls. We limit our enrollment to no more than 100 campers each session. This allows us to know each child as an individual. We take pride in our family atmosphere, and we are entering our 76th year of camping. If you prefer a highly regimented camp, you would be better off elsewhere. Our camp is a FUN camp, and while having fun in a clearly moral atmosphere, the campers learn about our environment, nature, and getting along with others. Our camp was founded by Coach Bill and Dorothy Allen who believed strongly in our duty as adults to be role models for youth. Our camp parents send their children to this camp because of its philosophy. By being role models, our staff must maintain strong moral behavior over the course of the summer.
Thank you for your interest in Blue Mountain Ranch. This online application is provided through Camp Minder. All forms will be filled our or submitted through this platform. We look forward to receiving your application.

All staff must have current FIRST AID and CPR certification upon arrival at camp. This is one of the forms that will be uploaded in Camp Minder. We also ask that all staff be vaccinated and upload a copy of their form in Camp Minder as well.

A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK WILL BE RUN ON ALL HIRED STAFF.
Before filling out this application please ask yourself the following question, "Do I really enjoy children?" Test yourself around a group of children over an extended period of time. Children try your patience and you must learn to be cool and calm when they have problems. Being a counselor is like being a parent in that it is 24-hour a day job. You will become so attached to the campers that you will feel responsible at all times. When you see something going on that you know should not be,  you will stop it whether you are on duty or not. You will learn as well as teach. You will leave camp a better person for having been a counselor, and it will be an experience you treasure all your life. The fun you will have, the growth you will experience mentally, morally and spiritually will last a lifetime.
Counselors live in cabins with campers and teach activity periods during the day. Each week there is one day off from noon until 2 a.m. and another evening for 3 1/2 hours. Our starting salary for college students staying the whole summer is $250 per week, $200 per week if staying a shorter time. College graduates staying the whole summer are paid $275 per week, $225 if staying a shorter time. Additionally, each counselor is paid $100 for travel expenses. There is no salary paid for orientation. We look forward to hearing from you.
