Directions and Travel Guidelines
Campers traveling by car
Where ever you are driving from, the approach
to Blue Mountain Ranch is beyond breathtaking. Once you reach our
gravel road - it feels like hours as you wind through our little
corner of paradise but it’s just a few minutes more and you’re
home (at least for the next few weeks).
Driving Directions to BMR
from Colorado Springs
Take HWY 24 West from Colorado Springs. Go
through Cascade, Woodland park, Divide and Florissant (about 35 mi.
total). Less than a mile West of Florissant on 24, at the top of
the first hill, turn left onto County Rd. 46 & follow it until
you reach our entrance (3 Mi). Highway 24 is a paved highway to Florissant
and then CR 46 is a good all-weather gravel road to camp.

Additional car arrival guidelines:
- We suggest arriving between 10:00 and 2:00.
- Please fill out the Travel Information form and return it prior
to departing for BMR. We would like to know how each camper
will be arriving.
- Check-in at the office when you arrive so we can send you to
the correct cabin where your child will be greeted by one of his
or her counselors.
- We will have a sandwich buffet
lunch between 11:30AM and 1:00PM. We’d
love to have you join your camper for lunch!
Campers traveling
by plane:
The basic
idea is that parents make the reservations and get the child onto
the plane in your hometown. We pick them up in Colorado Springs
AT THEIR PLANE’S GATE. Following are the specific instructions
and guidelines we’d like each of you to follow to keep our
campers happy and safe:
- Fill out and return the Travel Information form (see
forms downloads)
prior to departure. We need to know your child’s travel
specifics.
- Please schedule all flights to arrive at COS after 10:00 AM and
before noon. Depart COS, heading home, between 10:30AM and
4:00PM.
- Parents are responsible for plane reservations and the purchase
of tickets.
- We will meet your child’s plane AT THE GATE in Colorado
Springs and put them on the plane headed home at no charge on session
travel dates. There will be an additional fee of $50 for airport
trips not on travel dates.
- Several days before camp starts, we will decide precisely what
staff member will be meeting your child. You MUST
call BMR and get that person’s name to give to the
airline if the child is traveling as an unaccompanied minor.
- If your child is traveling alone most airlines require an extra
fee paid at check-in. Contact your carrier for further
information.
- Please give the camp name and phone number to your child. In
case of the unlikely event that a staff member is delayed in meeting
your child’s flight, instruct your child to go to the ticket
agent at the gate and request assistance. Gate attendants will
keep the child with them until our staff member is paged.
- Instruct your child that staff members will hold a sign that
says “Blue Mountain Ranch” and will be wearing BMR
staff clothing.
- Parents please talk with your children about proper behavior
on the plane prior to their departure.
LUGGAGE: Due to heightened airline security,
please contact your airline to find out about any luggage changes
or restrictions. Following are several suggested guidelines
from our years of experience:
- PLEASE PUT BMR TAGS ON ALL LUGGAGE FOR EASY IDENTIFICATION!!
- Check with your individual airline for size restrictions and
any packing specifications. Most airlines charge a
fee for luggage over 50lbs.
- Have your camper wear a BMR nametag so that we can easily identify
him/her.
- Campers must report to the airport at least two hours before
departure time. This is necessary for security measures and
so all luggage may be handled easily.
- It is possible to send your luggage by UPS, FEDEX or US MAIL
and have it arrive prior to your child’s arrival. Check
with the different companies for their charges. Our physical address
is: Blue Mountain Ranch, 11227 CR 98, Florissant,
CO 80816
Travel safely. We can’t wait to see ya’ll!
